Architecture can be a slow process, where projects take time to develop and take shape going through design iterations, planning approval and detailed design before finally making it onto site and through construction when – if the client doesn’t mind – you may be able to write about your finished project to showcase it on your website.
Having only started Fifteen 10 Architects in October 2024 a lot of our work is very much still in progress, but that doesn’t mean we have nothing to show. So we have decided to post a small selection of the projects we have been working on here with a bit of a blurb and of course, the projected energy use for each.
New Build Certified Passivhaus

in collaboration with Ruth Reed of Green Planning Studio Ltd
This project is for a new ‘Upside Down’ certified passivhaus. The form and material selection respond to the surrounding context of listed buildings with part hipped roofs in a mixture of thatch and clay tiles. The concept design was developed by Ruth Reed PPRIBA of Green Planning Studio (my former colleague) who was the Design Stage Architect and Fifteen 10 Architects who acted as Passivhaus Designers, and will take the project forward through Detailed Design and Construction. The project has achieve PHPP compliance at design stage under the 10 W/m2 method
Enerphit Barn Conversion

An Existing Barn in the Green Belt outside York is being repurposed as a multigenerational family home. We are aiming for the Enerphit Standard with the conversion.
AECB Carbonlite Barn Conversion

We got permission to convert this barn under Class Q last year, we are now looking to get planning permission to convert and extend the barn before taking it through detailed design – we are aiming for the AECB Carbonlite Standard with this build.
Whole House Retrofit

We took over this project at detailed design stage based on our extensive experience with Whole House Retrofit. The client didn’t want to just do an extension, but to upgrade the fabric of the existing building, install a whole house mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, and to get the building as air tight as possible.
Based on that brief we provided a comprehensive set of construction information to enable the client to achieve the Passivhaus Low Energy Building Standard.
The building is now under construction due to complete later this year.
So there it is – a small snapshot of the projects we have been/are working on – which I hope demonstrates where we are pitching ourselves as a practice.
We don’t just do pretty buildings – we want to make sure they’re as low impact as possible. We think they all embody the quote on our homepage
“We design and deliver low energy modern residential architecture to climate conscious clients who aspire to live in an environmentally friendly way without compromising on aesthetic. We do this using a collaborative process which enables our clients to make good decisions from a position of knowledge through our expertise and experience”
Keep watching this space
